The Ted Talk

One thing that stuck out to me in the Ted Talk about procrastination was the Venn diagram. The Venn diagram consisted of a monkey that represented leisure activities and easy tasks while the other side was a person that represented what makes sense and what is hard. He used the monkey to represent the “dark playground” which is a spot that many procrastinators get stuck in. Personally, I think the monkey made sense to represent this because when I think of monkeys, I always think of them doing fun activities and being random.

Then, he talked about how the other side of the diagram represented getting work done in a timely manner and doing what makes sense. That is when he also talked about the “panic monster” that comes into play because many people get stuck in the fun zone, like the monkey. I often find myself stuck in the fun zone, and need to push myself more to be in the stress-free zone.

The two overlap because some of the things people do that are fun and easy, make sense to do, like brushing your teeth. I feel like the middle is a good place to be in because you are able to experience the fun moments of life and not constantly be stressed, while being responsible, too.
